Years later, in one of the wonderful museums of Tbilisi – Giorgi Leonidze State Museum of Georgian Literature creates an opportunity for the public to reconnect with Toumanian’s relics: manuscripts, photographs, an exclusive collection of books from the poet's personal library dedicated to Georgian culture, and most importantly, the "Mysterious Box", in which the poet's heart was contained 100 years ago, before burying.
The great Armenian thinker Hovhannes Toumanian, who was born in delightful Lori, lived and worked in Tiflis from his early youth until the last days of his life.
He developed his prolific literary and public activity in this large cultural center always having a broad worldview of a humanist thinker. Here he created his family and a wide circle of friends.
Toumanian’s interest and respect for the Georgian people, their literature and culture, mutual sincere love and respect, high moral understandings of Georgian writers, art and science figures is the basis of the exhibition titled "Toumanian and Tiflis".
In the exhibition dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the poet's memory, one can get acquainted with Toumanian’s perceptions of life in Tiflis, from human relations to literary outbursts.
The opening ceremony of the exhibition will take place in G. Leonidze State Museum of Georgian Literature / 8 G. Chanturia / Tbilisi/ Georgia, on March 23 at 17.00.
The exhibition is open until April 13.
On March 24, a memorial concert evening will take place in the hall of the State Conservatory named after V Sarajishvili, where the GEGHARD singing group will perform with the moods of Toumanian speech and Komitas music.
