Hovhannes Toumanian is one of the greatest Armenian poets, writer, literary and public activist. He was born in 1869 in the village of Dsegh in Lori region in the north of Armenia. Toumanian has written numerous poems, quatrain, novels, stories, fairy tales, etc. This book contains ten of Toumanian’s tales that were written in a simple way and sincere language specific to folklore.
The use of folk dialect in the writing of fairy tales gives a special taste and smell.
The fairy tales reflect the life of the common people of that time, their psychology and their dreams.
At the same time they are so famous, interesting and it is easy to understand. They are written in instructive and educative manner.
